Anne Arundel County                             2437

(c) He applies for such license within sixty (60) days of the effec-
tive date of this ordinance.

Section 12-1922. Amendments to NFPA Standard Number 54-1964.

The "Standard for the Installation of Gas Appliances and Gas Piping"
as set forth in NFPA Standards No. 54-1964, adopted by virtue of Section
10-200 of the Annotated Code of Anne Arundel County (1967 Edition
and Supplements), is hereby amended as follows: and the provisions
herein shall be deemed to supersede the text of Standard 54 in any case
wherein the provisions of this ordinance are interpreted:

(1)   Subsection 2.4.3 (a) Gas Piping Sizes. Delete from second
sentence: the words "and 2C" and delete "whereas Table 2B is based
upon a pressure drop of 0.5 inch water column," thus ending the second
sentence with a period after the word "column." Delete the last sentence
starting with "The serving—."

(2)   Subsection 2.4.3 (c). Delete subsection 2.4.3 (c) and 2.4.3 (d)
as written and substitute the following: (c) To determine the size of
each section of gas piping in a system within the range of Tables 2, 4A
or 4B, proceed as follows:

(1)    Determine the gas demand of each appliance to be attached
to the piping system. When Table 2 is to be used to select the piping
size, calculate the gas demand in terms of cubic feet per hour for each
piping system outlet. When Tables 4A or 4B are to be used to select the
piping size, calculate the gas demand in terms of thousands of BTU per
hour for each piping system outlet.

(2)    Measure the length of piping from the gas meter or service
regulator when a meter is not provided, to the most remote outlet in
the building.

(3)    In Tables 2, 4A or 4B, whichever is appropriate, select the
column showing that distance or the next longer distance if the Table does
not give the exact length. This is the only distance used in determining
the size of any section of gas piping.

(4)    Use this vertical column to locate ALL gas demand figures for
this particular system of piping.

(5)    Starting at the most remote outlet, find in the vertical column
just selected the gas demand for that outlet. If the exact figure of demand
is not shown, choose the next larger figure below in the column.

(6)    Opposite this demand figure, in the pipe size column in Tables
2, 4A or 4B, will be found the correct size of gas piping.

(7)    Proceed in a similar manner for each outlet and each section
of gas piping. For each section of piping determine the total gas demand
supplied by that section.

(3)     Subsection 2.4.3 (e). Delete the letters "A, 2B, 2C" and the
words at the end "and the serving gas supplier." Renumber 2.4.3 (d).

(4)    Subsection 2.4.3. Renumber "Table 2A," "Table 2," and delete
tables "2B," "2C," and "3".

(5)    Subsection 2.4.4. Diversity Factor. Delete as written and sub-
stitute the following: Diversity Factor:
