2260                               Municipal Charters

the judges shall make out, on blanks furnished by said Commissioners,
and sign a certificate setting out the whole number of votes cast in said
ward and also the number of votes cast for each candidate. The certificate
shall state [that] the persons receiving the highest number of votes
are elected [Commissioner from that ward]. As the ballots are counted,
they shall be strung by one of the judges, and when the counting is
finished, the said ballots, together with the tally sheets, shall be put
into the ballot box, and the box shall then be securely locked, and the
judges certificate, the key to the ballot box, the ballot box and poll
book shall be delivered to the return judge, who within three hours after
the closing of the polls, shall return the said ballot box key and certificate
to the Supervisor of Elections, at the City Hall[.] who shall then declare
the persons elected.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall become
effective September 16, 1969.

Charter Amendment No. 25

Resolution of The Commissioners of Cambridge adopted pursuant
to the authority of Article 11E of the Constitution of Maryland and
Section 13 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition, as Amended), title "Corporation-Municpal", to amend the
Charter of The Commissioners of Cambridge by repealing and reen-
acting, with amendments, Section 38, "Vacancies in office of Com-
missioner; referenda", of the Code of Public Local Laws of Dorchester
County (1961 Edition), said Code being Article 10 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Dorchester County" subtitle
"Cambridge", repealing certain obsolete material concerning elections
in the town of Cambridge.

Section 1. BE IT RESOLVED by The Commissioners of Cambridge
that the Charter of said Municipal Corporation be, and the same is hereby,
amended by repealing and reenacting said Section 38 to read as follows:

38. VACANCIES IN OFFICE OF COMMISSIONER; REFERENDA.

If any vacancy shall happen in the office of Commissioners by reason
of resignation, death, removal from office, change of residence, failure
to qualify, or otherwise, the remaining Commissioners shall order a
special election to be held [in the ward where the vacancy occurs]
to fill the unexpired time for which the Commissioner who vacated his
office was elected. In such cases judges of election [for said ward] shall
be appointed, [a] polling places shall be designated, and the notice
and the date and the object of the election shall be given, the election
shall be held, and the returns shall be made as provided for by
