2242                               Municipal Charters

Section 4. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Man-
ager of Bowie shall cause a public notice to be published not fewer than four
(4) times at not less than weekly intervals in a newspaper having a gen-
eral circulation in the City of Bowie and the area to be annexed briefly
and accurately describing the proposed change and the conditions and
circumstances applicable thereto. The public notice shall further specify
that a public hearing will be held on this resolution by the City Council of
Bowie at 8:30 P.M. in the City Building on July 14, 1969.

Section 5. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution
shall become effective forty-five (45) days from July 14, 1969, provided it
is affirmed by the City Council of Bowie on that date and unless within
the forty-five (45) days the City Council of Bowie receive a petition for
referendum in accordance with the provisions of Section 19 of Articles
23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition and Amendments).

Charter Amendment Resolution No. 7-69
Charter Amendment No. XII

A Resolution of the Council of the City of Bowie, Maryland adopted
pursuant to the authority of Article 11E of the Constitution of Mary-
land and Section 13 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition, as amended) to amend Section 23 entitled "(Board of
Supervisors of Elections)," said section being Section 5-23 of Subtitle
5 of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1963
Edition, as amended), which Article contains in whole or in part the
Charter of the City of Bowie, by repealing and re-enacting with
amendments said Section 23 increasing the size of the Board of Super-
visors of Elections from three to five members.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWIE,
MARYLAND:

Section 1. That the Charter of said municipal corporation be, and the
same is hereby amended by repealing Section 23 and enacting in lieu
thereof new Section 23 to read as follows:

23. (Board of Supervisors of Elections.) There shall be a Board of
Supervisors of Elections, consisting of [three] five members who shall be
appointed by the Council on the third Monday in April or as soon there-
after as practicable, of every odd numbered year. The terms of members
of the Board of Supervisors of Elections shall begin on the third Monday
in April in the year in which they are appointed and shall expire on the
third Monday in April of the second year following their appointment, but
not until their successors have been appointed. Members of the Board of
Supervisors of Elections shall be qualified voters of the City and shall not
