Whereas, The mobile home industry has become one of the most
important factors in the low and moderate cost housing market; and
Whereas, Approximately 50,000 Marylanders now reside in mo-
bile homes; and
Whereas, Interested persons throughout the State are studying
this subject and developing various proposals to improve conditions
and factors effecting these areas; and
Whereas, The State of Maryland should make its own detailed,
comprehensive, and intensive study of this vitally important ques-
tion and problem; now, therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Legis-
lative Council be requested to study the aforementioned problem and
to recommend appropriate legislation to the next regular Session
of the General Assembly; and be it further
Resolved, That all agencies and departments of the State Govern-
ment, as well as the members of the mobile home industry, are
urged and requested to give all possible assistance to this special
study in order that the work may be done quickly and with solid
results; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Joint Resolution be sent to the Chair-
man and the Vice Chairman of the Legislative Council.

(Senate Joint Resolution 83)
Senate Joint Resolution requesting the State Department of Health
to continue its present study of the sewage problems in the
Riverdale and College Park vicinity and consider a moratorium
on further construction and zoning in the general Riverdale and
College Park area should the State Department of Health find
the present sewage system inadequate to serve the community.
Whereas, A serious flooding condition has existed in the vicinity
of Riverdale, College Park and surrounding municipalities for the
past ten years due to overloading of the Northeast Branch trunk
sewer and overflowing of Indian Creek; and
Whereas, This flooding condition has resulted in multiple com-
plaints from the citizenry from these areas, because of property
damage and threats to health; and
Whereas, Experts have disagreed as to the cause of such sewage
problems and the State Department of Health has deemed this mat-
ter to be a serious threat to the general health and environment of
these areas; and
Whereas, That it is understood that the Washington Suburban
Sanitary Commission has adopted temporary remedial measures by
diverting sewage from the existing thirty-six inch line traveling
through Riverdale proper to a bypass line around Riverdale of forty-
eight inches in diameter; now, therefore, be it
