Resolved, That copies of this resolution be sent to the Governor
of the State of Maryland, the Secretary of Natural Resources, and
the Director of the Department of Game and Inland Fish.

(House Joint Resolution 119)

House Joint Resolution requesting the Congress of the United States
to appropriate the necessary funds for full implementation of Pub-
lic Law 89-195, enacted by the 89th Congress, S. 20, September
21, 1965, creating the Assateague Island National Seashore.

Whereas, the Act creating the Assateague Island Seashore, namely
Public Law 89-195, 89th Congress, S. 20, September 21, 1965, pro-
vided for certain facilities for which Federal funds have never been
provided; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the General Assembly of Maryland does hereby
petition the National Congress to fully implement the provisions of
the aforesaid act, in particular Section 3 authorizing the Secretary
of the Interior to reimburse the State of Maryland the sum of
$1,000,000 for the construction of the bridge constructed by the
State of Maryland across Sinepuxent Bay to the National Seashore,

Section 7, providing that the Secretary would set aside one or more
parcels of land in Maryland, not to exceed 600 acres for the purpose
of construction of hotels, motels and other public facilities for the
use of visitors,

Section 8, providing for the formulation of plans for beach erosion,
and

Section 9, providing for the construction and maintenance of a
road from the Chincoteague-Assateague Island Bridge in Virginia
to the Sandy Point-Assateague Bridge in Maryland; and, be it
further

Resolved, that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Vice-
President of the United States, the Speaker of the House of Repre-
sentatives, the Secretary of the Interior, and to all members of the
United States Senate and House of Representatives representing
the States of Maryland and Virginia in the United States Congress.

cies in the prevention of shoreline damage by wave wash from
ships transiting the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.
