APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES OF CHARLES
COUNTY SHALL DO SUCH THINGS AS ARE NECESSARY
AND PROPER TO CONDUCT THE REFERENDUM ELECTION,
ACTING GENERALLY UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE
33 OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND. IF A MA-
JORITY OF THE VOTES CAST ON THIS QUESTION ARE CAST
"FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL BONDS" THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
ACT SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON
THE OFFICIAL PROCLAMATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE
REFERENDUM. IF A MAJORITY OF THE VOTES CAST ON
THIS QUESTION ARE CAST "AGAINST MIDDLE SCHOOL
BONDS" THE PROVISIONS OF THE THIS ACT ARE OF NO
FURTHER EFFECT AND VOID.
SEC. 7. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT SUBJECT
TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 6 HEREINABOVE, THIS
ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT ON JULY 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 571
(Senate Bill 798)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 155 (s)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Re-
placement Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Boards
of License Commissioners," to increase the salary of the chair-
man and associate members of the Board of License Commis-
sioners in St. Mary's County and to provide a salary for the
attorney for that Board.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 155 (s) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages,"
subtitle "Boards of License Commissioners," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
155.
(s) In St. Mary's County, the chairman of said board shall re-
ceive as compensation the sum of [six hundred dollars ($600.00)]
fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) TWELVE HUNDRED DOL-
LARS ($1,200.00) per year. Each of the other members of the board
shall receive as compensation the sum of [five hundred dollars
($500.00)] thirteen hundred dollars ($1300.00). ONE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($1,000.00). The attorney for the board shall receive an
annual salary of twelve hundred dollars ($1,200.00).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.
