AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 264 (c)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Re-
placement Volume), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish and
Fisheries," subheading "Part 2. Tidal Waters," redefining the
area within the Dorchester County waters of the Nanticoke River
in which pound nets having a length of 500 yards may be set.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 264 (c) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Natural Resources,"
subtitle "Fish and Fisheries," subheading "Part 2. Tidal Waters,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
264.
(c) Between successive pound or stake nets in the same row
clear and unobstructed intervals of at least 200 feet shall be main-
tained. No single line of net stakes, including the pound or head
and the leader or hedging, shall have a length greater than the
following:
In Chesapeake Bay, south of a line from Sandy Point to Love
Point and in the Choptank River from the mouth of the Choptank
River to a line drawn from Cape Point to Drum Point—500 yards.
In Chesapeake Bay, north of a line from Sandy Point to Love
Point and south of a line from the northernmost point of Poole's
Island to Worton's Point—400 yards.
In Chesapeake Bay, north of a line from the northernmost point
of Poole's Island to Worton's Point—1,000 feet.
In the tributaries of Chesapeake Bay except as hereinbefore pro-
vided, and in the Potomac River—400 yards.
In Chincoteague, Sinepuxent, Isle of Wight and Assawoman bays,
and their tributaries, and in the Atlantic Ocean within three miles
of the Maryland shore—500 yards.
In Hongo River, south of a line drawn from Hickory Point on
Middle Hoopers Island to Windmill Point on Aisquith Island—500
yards.
In Hoopers Straits—500 yards.
In Fishing Bay, south of a line from Point No Point to Gray's
Island—500 yards.
In Dorchester County waters only, of the Nanticoke River, south
of a line from [Newfoundland Point] the mouth of Jack's Creek
in Dorchester County to [Hatcrown Point] Triangulation Station
Earle in Wicomico County—500 yards.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970. THAT THIS ACT IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE
AN EMERGENCY MEASURE AND NECESSARY FOR THE
