bia, the department, in lieu of said deposit, shall accept the certificate
of the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia certify-
ing that a deposit of money or securities equal to or in excess of the
total amount required by section 7-302 is being maintained in public
custody, in trust, for the payment of any judgment recovered against
the self-insurer in the United States and Canada.
(h) Any person electing to establish proof of financial respon-
sibility in accordance with subsection (g) shall first file with the
department an admission of liability for the tortious acts of the
driver or drivers of the vehicle or vehicles displaying the trade name
or identifying design of the company.
§ 7-332. Owner may give proof for others.
The owner of a motor vehicle may give proof of financial respon-
sibility on behalf of his employee or a member of his immediate fam-
ily or household in lieu of the furnishing of proof by the person.
The furnishing of proof shall permit the person to operate only a
motor vehicle covered by the proof. The department shall endorse
appropriate restrictions on the face of the license held by the person,
or may issue a new license containing the restrictions.
§ 7-333. Substitution of proof.
(a) Any form of proof, as defined in this subtitle, may be offered
in lieu of or in substitution for any other form previously accepted
by the department or the Public Service Commission as the case
may be.
(b) When the department or the Public Service Commission as
the case may be, accepts a form of proof in lieu of or in substitution
for any other form previously accepted, the previously accepted
proof shall be promptly released by the department or the Public
Service Commission as the case may be.
§ 7-334. Other proof may be required.
(a) Whenever the department or the Public Service Commission
as the case may be, concludes that any form of proof previously
accepted as evidence of financial responsibility under this subtitle no
longer fulfills the purpose for which it was acquired, the department
or the Public Service Commission as the case may be, shall require
other proof to be filed in lieu of or in substitution for the previously
filed proof.
(b) Pending the filing of proof required in lieu of or in substitu-
tion, the department or the Public Service Commission as the case
may be, may suspend the operator's driver's license of the person
concerned, together with all permits, registration certificates and
registration plates issued to the person.
§ 7-335. Duration of proof—when proof may be canceled or re-
turned.
(a) The department or the Public Service Commission as the
case may be, upon request, shall release to the person entitled thereto
any and all forms of proof of financial responsibility offered under
this subtitle:
