tion cards. Except as expressly provided to the contrary, such fees
shall be payable each registration year prior to the issuance or re-
newal of a vehicle's registration.

§ 8-802. Registration fee for passenger cars and station wagons
(Class A. Pneumatic Tires).

(a)    A fee of $20.00 each shall be paid for all passenger cars,
including station wagons, having a manufacturer's shipping weight
up to and including 3700 lbs., and a fee of $30.00 each for all
passenger cars, including station wagons, having a manufacturer's
shipping weight of more than 3,700 lbs. These shall be classified as
Class A vehicles.

(b)    Upon application to the department by the owner of any
registered passenger motor vehicle, accompanied with due proof that
the owner holds an unrevoked and unexpired official amateur radio
station license issued by the Federal Communications Commission,
and upon payment of a fee of $5.00 in addition to any other fees
required by this article, the department shall issue for the passenger
motor vehicle special registration plates upon which shall be in-
scribed in letters and numerals not less than three inches high
and in strokes of not less than one-quarter inch in width the official
amateur radio call letters of the applicant as assigned by the Federal
Communications Commission in lieu of the numerals required to be
displayed on the registration plates under part IV. Provided, how-
ever, the registration plates may be displayed only when the vehicle
is equipped with an amateur radio station and properly licensed.

§ 3-803. Registration fees for "for hire" vehicles (Class B. Pneu-
matic Tires).

A fee of $60.00 each shall be paid for all passenger motor vehicles
operating for the purpose of transporting persons for hire upon any
of the public highways and streets of the State other than motor
vehicles operating on fixed schedules, charter, funeral coaches, am-
bulances, mortician flower coaches, funeral limousines, and mortician
service wagons, and others for which the registration fees are fixed
by other specific provisions of this part. All such vehicles shall be
classified as Class B vehicles. This section shall not apply to vehicles
for which fees are paid pursuant to section 8-835.

§ 3-804. Registration fee for funeral motor vehicles and ambu-
lances (Class C. Pneumatic Tires.)

A fee of $40.00 each shall be paid for all motor vehicles operating
as funeral coaches, funeral limousines, mortician flower coaches,
mortician service wagons and ambulances, except those publicly
owned and operated for which there is no registration fee. These
vehicles shall be classified as Class C vehicles.

§ 3-805. Registration fees for motorcycles, motor-scooters, motor-
bicycles (Class D. Pneumatic Tires).

A fee of $10.00 each shall be paid for all motorcycles, motor-
scooters, motor-bicycles, bicycles having motor attachments, and
similar vehicles. All such vehicles shall be known as Class D vehicles.
