CHAPTER 447
(Senate Bill 50)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 44A (b)
of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replace-
ment Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Health," subtitle "Mis-
cellaneous Provisions," to provide transportation for the day care
centers for the mentally retarded.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 44A(b) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Replacement Volume and 1969 Supplement), title
"Health," subtitle "Miscellaneous Provisions," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
44A.
(b) The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is hereby au-
thorized to utilize the funds appropriated for the financial support of
day care centers for the mentally retarded as a part of general local
health services in the annual State operating budget, and when so
used the proportion of State, federal, and local funds respectively
shall be that specified for the financing of minimum health services.
The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is also authorized and
charged with the responsibility to provide funds for daily transporta-
tion to and from the Day Care Centers for mentally retarded persons
properly enrolled in any Day Care Center licensed by the State.
Necessary funds to cover the cost of the transportation to be pro-
vided under the terms of this section shall be appropriated separately
and in addition to the funds appropriated to the Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene to cover the State's share of the operating
costs of Day Care Centers.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 448

AN ACT to add new Section 275A to Article 66C of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Natural
Resources," subtitle "Fish and Fisheries," subheading "Tidal
Waters," to follow immediately after Section 275 thereof, to pro-
hibit the taking of snapping turtles in Calvert County by non-
residents OF MARYLAND, TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPART-
MENT OF GAME AND INLAND FISH SHALL REGULATE
METHODS OF TAKING SNAPPING TURTLES and to provide
a penalty for violation of this Act.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
