to Examine Evidences on behalf of a certain John Jenckins of Somerset County in relation to ye. bounds of a certain Tract of Land called Crouches desire we therefore require you or any three or two of you at Some time & place as to you or any three or two of you shall seem Convent. you meet on ye. aforesaid Land called Crouches desire you first haveing Taken your oaths on ye. holy Evangelist of Almighty God & there cause to come before you or any three or two of you all such Evidences as shall be to you or any three or two of you nominated by ye. said complainant or defendant & that you or any three or two of you Examine them upon their corporal oaths to be by you or any three or two of you administred on ye: Holy Evangelist of Almighty God in ye presence of ye. complainant or defendant if any touching the truth or Remembrance of their knowledge or any thing that may relate to ye. cause aforesd. & that reducing ye. severall depositions into writing you send the same with this our commission under your or any three or two of your hands & seals to us to our County Court of Somerset with all convenient speed Witness Isaac Handy Esqr one of our Justices of our said court ye. 21st. day of August in ye. tenth year of our domini- -on &c Annoque Dom. 1760 And now to witt at a court of his Lordship held at princess Ann Town the third tues- -day of June being the Twenty first day of the same month Anno Dom. one thou- -sand seven hundred & sixty three before the Justices thereof came Louther Dasheill and Thomas Dasheill two of the Gentlemen Nominated in the above commission and returned the same Endorsed in manner following with the following deposi- -tion thereto annexed March 19th. 1761 This day was Mr Louther Dasheill & Mr Thomas Dasheill quallified to Execute the within commission Before Ephm Wilson We do hereby certify that agreeable to the within commission we mett on the Land therein mentioned (we having first complied with the directions of the act of assembly made in such case by setting up advertisements agreable to the sd. act) and took the within deposition wittness our hands and seals this 17th. day of June 1761 Louther Dasheill {Seal} Thos. Dasheill {Seal} a deposition of a witness taken on the Land called Crouches desire at the request of John Jenkins the 11th. day of June 1761 Nicholas Crouch aged forty six years or thereabouts being sworn on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God saith that about thirty years agoe his brother John Crouch shewed him a red oak tree and told him it was the bounder of the Land called Crouches desire and that the sd. Tree was then alive and had notches in it in the form of a bounder and the said Nicholas shewed us the stump of the afsd: Tree where there is now a lightwood post Fixed with sixteen Notches on the four sides and further saith not
