It was determined in the affirmative.
On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave of absence was granted to the President of the Sen-
ate, and Senators Malone and Sellman.

On motion by Mr. Clarke;
The Senate adjourned.

MONDAY, March 7,1870.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Henderson.
Present at roll call the following Senators :
Messrs. Grove, Hyland, Miller, Parker, Snyder, Spates,
Timmons, Wilson—8.

There being no quorum present,
On motion by Mr. Hyland,
The Senate adjourned.

TUESDAY, March 8,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Father Freitag.
Present at roll call, the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Carroll, Clarke, Denson, Earle, Grove,
Hyland, Jump, Malone, Miller, Parker, Sellman, Snyder,
Stephenson, Timmons, Welch, Wilson—17.

The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.

The President laid before the Senate a communication from
the Clerk to the County Commissioners of Queen Anne's

county, in response to an order of the Senate in relation to

tax on mortgages in said county.
