Powers and
privileges.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the company shall have the
right to manufacture, sell and use storage batteries, com-
pressed gases, or other sources of power, and the other products
of its manufacture, and the right to build, erect and maintain
factories and stations for the manufacture of its vehicles,
power and sources of power and other products, and to erect,
construct and maintain means of transporting, conveying,
conducting, storing and utilizing same, and to dispose of the
products of its manufacture in such manner as it may deem
fit; provided, however, that the powers herein conferred shall
be subject to the provisions of the Act of eighteen hundred
and ninety-eight, Chapter one hundred and twenty -three,
known as the New Charter of Baltimore City, and the ordi-
nances of the Mayor and City Council passed in pursuance
thereof, and subject also to the provisions of the charter and
ordinances of any other cities or towns in this State or where
it may go.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 233.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Chapter
four hundred and ninety-four of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, Session eighteen hundred and
ninety-eight, to repeal Section seven hundred and fifty-six
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Baltimore City," sub-title "Police," and to re-enact the
same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter four hundred and ninety -four of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland , Session eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-eight, repealing Section seven hundred and
fifty-six of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Baltimore City," sub-title "Police," be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, so as to read as follows:

to retire and
pension
officers.

756. In addition to the sums of money now authorized by
law to be paid out of the fund, so as above constituted and
designated, the said Board of Police Commissioners are
empowered, whenever, in their opinion, the efficiency of the
service may require it to retire any officer of police, police-
man, detective, clerk or turnkey appointed by them, and pay
