1900.] OF THE SENATE. 1381. the County Commissioners of Frederick county to issue bonds bearing interest at a rate not to exceed three and one-half per centum per annum, to obtain money to redeem the sixty-five thousand dollars of bonds, bearing interest at four per centum ller annum, issued by said county commissioners under the Act of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the session of 1884, chapter 494, and also to redeem the one hundred and twenty-three thousand and seven hundred dollars of bonds, bearing interest at four per centum per annum, issued by said county commissioners under the Act of the General A.s- sembly of Maryland, passed at the session of 1889, chap- ter 239, both of which issues of bonds are now redeem- able -and may be paid by said county commissioners, and to authorize and empower the said county commissioners to levy and collect the necessary taxes for the payment of the bonds authorized to be issued and the interest thereon." Endorsed: ‘Read the third time and passed by yeas and nays." Also returned, Senate bill No. 157, entitled "An Act to permit the United Railway Electric• Company of Baltimore city to increase its hoard of directors from the present number, to wit, nine (9), unto eleven (11), and to provide that of such number two may be citizens aud residents of States other than the State of Maryland." Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by yeas and nays." Also returned, Senate bill No. 275, entitled "An Act to authorize the Gov- ernor of Maryland to appoint L. Allison Wilmer, late Adju- tant-General of Maryland, or some other person, to be se- lected by the Governor, the agent of the State of Mary- land, to collect and recover, in the name of the Governor of Maryland, the balance due, or so much thereof as is col- lectable, of the claim of the State against the United States Government growing out of the furnishing and equipping of Maryland troops for the Volunteer Army of the United States in the late Spanish-American War, and providing compensation therefor." Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by yeas and nays." |
