Technical Recommendations
While every possible effort was made to insure that this site could be
comfortably browsed from most Internet browsers, we do have some
recommendations that may help to make your experience here more
enjoyable.
For best results, use at least Netscape 2.0 or a browser which
supports:
- Tables.
- Animated GIFs.
- Transparent GIFs.
- Background Colors.
- Forms.
For the best possible display on your computer:
- Use 256 color (good), 16-bit (better), or 24-bit (best) video modes.
This can be set up under your operating system's display properties. This
site (and most others) will not look good in a 16-color display mode.
- Use at least an 800 x 600 display mode. While 640 x 480 (VGA) display
modes should be usable, we recommend 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 for best
results.
Some files on this site are very large. The exact sizes of
such files are noted in kilobytes (K). Unless you are accessing this site
over a local area network (CD-ROM) or over a fast Internet connection
(T-1), you might avoid downloading files that are over 500K.
If you are using Netscape and you see a file you would like to download,
but would like to use a program other than Netscape to view it (i.e. a large 800K+ .gif file),
hold down the "shift" key before clicking on the link with your mouse.
This will allow you to save the file to disk and open it with another
viewer program, which may be more appropriate for very large files.
