Information:

In 1814, lot 55 on High Street in Brookeville was an empty lot owned by Richard Thomas Jr., who founded the town and began selling lots by 1800.1 Brookeville was built on part of a 248 acre tract of land in Montgomery County that Thomas and his wife inherited when his father-in-law, Roger Brooke IV, passed away in 1792.2 Many of the original lots in the town, including lot 55, remained in Thomas's possession until his death in 1821.3
