School Teachers of Early Maryland

Ormsby, John, lately arrived from London, advertised he would teach fencing and dancing at the house of Mr. Fowler in Market St., Philadelphia (Pa. Gazette 9 Jan 1753).  He advertised he would teach dancing at Annapolis, and would also teach dancing and defence at Baltimore Town or Upper Marlborough (AMG 4 Aug 1757). In Oct 1757, he advertised he would open a dancing school in Upper Marlborough. He will also teach the science of defence. He already has a dancing school in Annapolis (AMG 28 Oct 1757).
