School Teachers of Early Maryland SC 5300 by Robert Barnes
Abington, George (MSA SC5300-1), advertised he would open a dancing
school in Annapolis at Mrs. Anderson's, and would also teach at Mr. Becker's
or Pecker's (AMG 1 Jan 1761).
Legal problems: Within a few months, he
was a fugitive, and the newspaper advertisements described him as "of low
stature, effeminate look, and wearing long hair." He was charged
with absconding with a horse loaned him by Nicholas Minskie (AMG 30 April
1761).
