ROY NEVILLE STATEN
Democrat, District 8.

Born in Sandidges, VA, June 30, 1913.  Attended public and private schools in Virginia; Virginia Commercial College.  Served in the U.S. Army.  Died December 11, 1999.  Married; two daughters; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.  Died Saturday, December 11, 1999.

General Assembly:
Member, House of Delegates, 1953-67.  Chair, Ways and Means Committee, 1964-67.  Chair, Budget and Finance Committee of Legislative Council, 1964-67.
Member of Senate, 1967-78.  Deputy Majority Leader, 1969-75.  Majority Leader, 1975-78.  Member, Legislative Policy Committee.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Accountant, Division Chief, Bethlehem Steel Shipbuilding.  A founder of Dundalk Community College.  Member, Lions, Moose; Baltimore County Seal Democratic Club; Dundalk United Methodist Church.
