Served in U.S. Army, 1st Lieutenant, Quartermaster Corps, 1943-46.  Member of the Maryland Bar.  Judge, Maryland Court of Appeals, 1977-January 1, 1991.  Chairman of the Governor's Commission on the Thurgood Marshall Memorial Statue, 1994-1996.  Chairman, Board of Regents, Morgan State University, 1999.  Former Justice of the Peace of Baltimore City.  Former Assistant Attorney General of Maryland.  Former Justice, Baltimore Municipal Court and Supreme Bench.  Member, U.S. National Commission of UNESCO.  Secretary, Monumental City Bar Association.  Member, YMCA; Urban League; NAACP; Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society.
