Notes:
1. Arrested by Union troops in August-September 1861 in order to prevent a pro-secession majority from assembling and voting to join the Confederacy. Sen. Coleman Yellot was also targeted for arrest, but had already fled to the Confederacy. For more information on the arrest of the Maryland legislators, see The War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, volume 2, series 1, p. 563-748, especially p. 667-675.
