WAGNER, NAVIGATING OFFICER & CHIEF ENGINEER, NAVAL BRIGADE, M.N.G., BALTIMORE, MD. IN 1904. THIS HANDBOOK IS THE TYPE PREPARED BY EACH NAVAL OFFICER AT THE TURN ON THE CENTURY. IT PRINTS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON EVERY PHASE OF NAVAL OPERATIONS. THE SECOND HALF OF THE BOOK CONCENTRATES ON NAVIGATION, THE OFFICER'S SPECIALTY.

THE CHART SHOWS SOUNDINGS, BUOYS, AND GIVES THE PLOTTED COURSE AND THE NAVIGATION AIDS. SINCE THE HANDBOOK WAS TYPEWRITTEN, IT WAS NOT PUBLISHED AND MUST BE CONSIDERED A MANUSCRIPT DOCUMENT. DATA IS BASED ON AN EXAMINATION OF THE COPY IN THE HUNTINGFIELD COLLECTION.
