DESCRIPTION : THIS IS ONE OF A NUMBER OF MAPS ILLUSTRATING THE YORKTOWN CAMPAIGN, PRODUCED AFTER 1800. IT IS A LARGE SCALE MAP SHOWING EXACT POSITIONS FOR THE VARIOUS FORCES CONTENDING IN THE BATTLE. HENRY P. JOHNSTON IN LIST OF MAPS AND PLANS OF THE SIEGE OF YORKTOWN, VA., THE YORKTOWN CAMPAIGN, NEW YORK, 1881, NOTES THIS MAP TO BE A DERIVATIVE OF SEBASTIAN BAUMAN'S MAP OF THE SIEGE OF YORKTOWN ENTITLED "TO HIS EXCELLENCY GEN WASHINGTON COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE ARMIES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.THIS PLAN OF THE INVESTMENT OF YORK AND GLOUCESTER HAS BEEN SURVEYED AND LAID DOWN, AND IS MOST HUMBLY DEDICATED BY HIS EXCELLENCYS OBEDIENT AND VERY HUMBLE SERVANT, SEBASTn.
