1840s Senate Armchair


In 1843 the General Assembly ordered Chief Clerk Joseph H. Nicolson to provide furniture for the Committee Room and the Senate Chamber. These suite of armchairs remained in the Old Senate Chamber until the Major Victorian-era renovations of 1876-77.

There are a total of three chairs from this order on display in the State House Caucus Room and one in the Archives Room.
