The State Advisory Council on Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness formed in October 1998 (Chapters 1 and 2, Acts of 1998). The Fund is used to promote public education and awareness about organ, tissue and eye donations (Code Health-General Article, secs. 13-901 through 13-906).

The Council last met in June 2004. Authorization for the Council was repealed effective July 1, 2006 (Chapter 457, Acts of 2006).
