The Governor's Construction Industry Employers' Advisory Council was established in February 1988 by the Governor (Executive Order 01.01.1988.04). The Council assisted the Governor in fostering a healthy and expanding construction industry in Maryland. The Council also reviewed State and local problems affecting the industry and recommended solutions to the Governor.

The Council last met in 1994.

In May 2016, authorization for the Council was rescinded (Executive Order 01.01.2016.06).
