Member, Maryland State Bar Association (consumer bankruptcy section; resolution of fee disputes committee, 1990-2018); Harford County Bar Association (president, 2009). Member, Harford County Republican Central Committee, 1998-2008 (past chair). Life member, Harford County Republican Club. Member, Western Maryland Railway Historical Society; Sons of the American Legion. Past member, Bel Air/Forest Hill Community Council. Honorary Life Member, Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company. Married; two children, one grandchild. Died in Bel Air, Maryland, March 4, 2018.


In May 2018, the plaza on the south side of the Mary E. W. Risteau District Courts and Multi-Service Center in Bel Air, Maryland, was named the H. Wayne Norman, Jr. Memorial Plaza (Chapter 370, Acts of 2018).
