June 26 - Dr. Papenfuse served as a guest lecturer at UMBC's Summer Institute
for history teachers at the UMBC. Topic: Defining "American" in the
Aftermath of World War II: Whittaker Chambers vs. Alger Hiss (grant
resulted)

Dr. Papenfuse was to attend, on behalf of Judge Bell, the State and Federal
Court Historical Societies Fifth Annual Meeting in conjunction with the
AASLH Annual Meeting in Indianapolis on September 14-15. Cancelled.

July 9-31, 2001: Research trip to England by Dr. Papenfuse

October 8-14, 2001: Dr. Papenfuse's to visit the Anhui Provincial Archives
Bureau at the invitation of Mr. Yan Gui-fu, Director General. Remarks
