Connecting the Annapolis Complex

We continue to be invloved in work to improve communications within the Annapolis complex and outbound to the Internet.

The Office of Telecommunication Management is developing a plan to upgrade the fiber optic communications within the Annapolis and Baltimore complexes. This will result in linking the two local area networks for data communications. Funding will be requested from the Information Technology Investment Fund for this improvement.

The Archives is working with the technical staff at a number of offices in the complex to support this application. The need for effective intra government communications for daily business and the delivery of the electronic record to the Archives is increasingly recognised by our colleagues in other agencies.

Peat Marwick, consultant to the FMIS has located their internet site security testing equipment at the Archives. They are responsible for certifying the competence on firewall applications to protect the state's financial information network.
