April 5, 1956 - Potomac Electric Power Company application to use a maximum of 400 cfs of Potomac River water daily at a proposed powerplant in Montgomery County about 3/4 mile downstream from Monocacy River. (p. 116)

April 5, 1956 - Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company application to take an average of 1,820,000 gallons of water a day from the Potomac River about 5 miles downstream from Cumberland, Allegany County, for the operation of a plant under construction, and application to erect a dam 8 feet high with spillway 6 feet high at the stie of a proposed pumping station at which the water is to be taken from the river. February 21, 1957 - City of Rockville application to erect an intake structure extending into the bed of the Potomac River for the purpose of appropriating and using water from the Potomac River for its public water supply. (p. 128)

December 11, 1958 - The Potomac Edison Company applications to take an average of 101,472,500 gallons of water a month from North Branch of Potomac River and to erect a dam across the River at Black Oak, Allegany County. (p. 90)

December 11, 1958 - Interestate Commission of the Potomac River Basin submitted "A plan for a preliminary study of the nature and amount of sediment in streams in the Potomac River Basin" prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey proposing a two-year cooperative agreement under which the four states in the basin would contribute one-half of the estimated cost of $60,000. January 8, 1959 - Approval of plans and specification for the intake structure to be constructed by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission on Potomac River between Watss Branch and Oak Spring Lock allowed in the permit of February 21, 1957. (p. 90)
