Licensing of Pinball Machines - Laws of Maryland 1937 Extra Session Chapter 11
An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 37A, 38, 38A, 41, 41A, 41B and 41C of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Excise Tax" and "Manufacturers' Tax on Distilled Spirits", as said sections were enacted by Chapter 10 of the Acts of the Special Session of 1936 and Chapter 231 of the Acts of the Regular Session of 1937; to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 73 of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "Licenses", sub-title "Tax on Admissions" as said section was amended by Chapter 231 of the Acts of the Regular Session of 1937; to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 212 of Article 81 of said Annotated Code, title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Tax on Toilet Articles and Cosmetics", as amended by Chapter 231 of the Regular Session of 1937; to add two new sections to Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), to be under the sub-title "Tax on the Recordation of Instruments in Writing", said new sections to be known as Sections 213 and 214, to follow immediately after Section 212 of said Article, imposing a tax upon the recordation of instruments in writing; to add a new section to Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), said new section to be known as Section 188A, to follow immediately after Section 188 of said Article, imposing a tax upon the registration of persons holding a license to operate motor vehicles in this State except chauffeurs; to add a new section to Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "Licenses", said new section to be know as Section 23A, to follow immediately after Section 23 of said Article, imposing a tax on pin ball games and other similar devices, legalizing the maintenance, possession and operation of the same, and the award of prizes in merchandise for the operation thereof; to add a new section to Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "Licenses", said new section to be known as Section 23B, and to follow immediately after Section 23A of said Article, imposing a license tax on music boxes and other similar musical devices; to add a new sub-title and thirty-seven new sections to Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes", said new sub-title to be known as "Income Tax", said new sections to be known as Sections 215 to 251, inclusive, and to follow immediately after Section 214; providing for the levy and collection of an income tax; and to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 40A of Article 19 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Comptroller", as said section was enacted by Chapter 10 of the Acts of the Special Session of 1936, all of said sections relating to the raising of revenue for "Aid to the Needy" and prescribing the methods of disbursing the revenues received and the purposes for which said revenues shall be disbursed; and providing penalties for the enforcement of the provisions of this Act.

Taxing Amusements in the State of Maryland - Laws of Maryland 1947 Chapter 601
An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 74 and 74B of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Licenses", sub-title "Tax on Admissions", providing for the distribution of the proceeds from the tax on admissions and authorizing the several political sub-divisions of the State to increase the tax on admissions in their respective jurisdictions."

Legalization of Slot Machines in St. Mary's County - Laws of Maryland 1947 Extra Session Chapter 32
An Act to authorize the County Commissioners of St. Mary's County to designate, by Resolution, the type of coin-operated machines upon which a gross receipts tax has been imposed by said County Commissioners under the provisions of Chapter 601 of 1947 and authorizing said County Commissioners, by Resolution, to impose a license fee upon such machines, and providing for a referendum thereon.

Amendment to Legalization of Slot Machines in St. Mary's County - Laws of 1949 Chapter 417

Legalization of Slot Machines in Charles County - Laws of Maryland 1949 Chapter 678
An Act to add five new sections to Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles County," sub-title "County Commissioners," said new sections to be known as Sections 84C-84G, inclusive, and to follow immediately after Section 84B of said Article, as said Section 84B was amended by Chapter 51 of the Acts of 1936 (Special Session), relating ot the licensing of coin-operated mechanical or electrical amusement devices or machines in Charles County and providing for a referendum thereon at a special election to be held in said County.

Amendment to Legalization of Slot Machines in St. Mary's County - Laws of Maryland 1951 Chapter 181
An Act to repeal Chapter 32 of the Laws of Maryland passed at the Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly in 1947, and to enact in lieu thereof four new sections to Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's County", to be under sub-title "Licenses," said new sections to be known as Sections 93A to 93D and to follow immediately after Section 93 of said Article, removing from the operation of Sections 288 to 307, inclusive, of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishment," sub-title "Gaming," the operation of certain coin operated gambling machines in St. Mary's County, and relating to the legalizing, licensing and regulating the operation of coin operated mechanical or electrical amusement and/or gambling devices or machines, and the distribution thereof in St. Mary's County and providing for the distribution of funds derived from such licensing.

An Act to repeal Section 84C-84G, inclusive, of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition, as enacted by Chapter 678 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1949), title "Charles County," subtitle "County Commissioners," and to enact in lieu thereof five new sections of said Article, to be known as Sections 84C-84G, inclusive, and to follow immediately after 84B of said Article, removing from the operation of Sections 288 to 307, inclusive, of Article 27, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishment," sub-title "Gaming," the operation of certain coin operated gambling machines in Charles County, and relating to the legalizing, licensing and regulating the operation of coin operated mechanical or electrical amusement and/or gambling devices or machines, and the distribution of funds derived from such licensing.

Removal of Slot Machines from Virginia piers - Laws of Maryland 1958 Chapter 18
An Act to add new Section to Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", subtitle "Gaming", to follow immediately after Section 246 of said Article, and sub-title, and to be known as Section 246A, making it unlawful to bet, wage or gamble at, or to conduct, maintain or operate games of chance or certain gaming devices upon any vessel upon the waters of the State of Maryland, or upon any pier, wharf, building or other structure which is built upon or over any waters of the State of Maryland and which cannot be entered from the Maryland shore by a person on foot, repealing all existing laws inconsistent herewith and providing penalties for any violations hereof.

An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 84C, 84D, 84E and 84G of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), as enacted by Chapter 183 of the Acts of 1951, title "Charles County," sub-title "County Commissioners," relating generally to coin operated mechanical or electrical amusement and gambling devices or machines in Charles County.

Phasing out slot machines in Maryland - Laws of Maryland 1963 Chapter 617
An Act to add new Section 264B to Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1962 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Gaming," to follow immediately after SEction 264A thereof, and to be under the new subheading "Slot Machines," defining the term "Slot Machines," and providing that it shall be unlawful to locate, possess, keep, maintain, or operate such machines within this State, providing certain exceptions as to those counties and municipalities wherein such machines were licensed prior to the effective date of this Act, and providing, as to such counties and municipalities wherein such machines were licensed prior to the effective date of this Act, and providing, as to such counties and municipalities, a limitation upon the maximum number of such machines that may be located, possessed, kept, maintained or operated in any place of business, or in any building, or upon any premises and further providing for the gradual and eventual total abolition by July 1, 1968, or all slot machines within this State, making non-compliance with the provisions of this Act a misdemeanor, and relating generally to slot machines and to their location, possession, keeping, maintenance or operation within this State.
