Biography:

Josias Green married Mary Battee February 28, 1811 in Baltimore County. Green and his family lived at Evergreen Farm  in Patapsco Neck near North Point, Baltimore County. Green served as a Colonel in the War of 1812. On September 12, 1814, the British Army under the command of Lieutenant General Ross, took a black man named Samuel Hill, who belonged to Josias Greeen. The army took Sam Hill and two horses while they were advancing towards North Point. In 1822, Green submitted a claim through his agent Henry Ashton, for the loss of Sam who was 32 years old and worth $500 at the time of the war.
