Biography:

Nelly was a slave of Governor Thomas Sim Lee on the Needwood property in Frederick County Maryland. She was manumitted by Lee on June 5, 1818. Her manumission noted that Nelly was married to Benjamin, a slave of Mrs. Anne Key of Washington, DC.
