Nineteen-year-old Hannah Lyles escaped from Athur T. Jones' farm, Swan
Point, in Kent County around September 16, 1814. She reaching British ships
on the Patuxent River with seven others of Jones' slaves: Jacob
Murray, Abraham
Lyles, Elijah
Lyles, George
Horner, Delilah
Murray, John Chambers and
Polly
Chambers.1
