Page 449. Delegation from Harford Co. Resolution passed on improvement of Columbia Avenue. for connecting .Oakland therewith. Recommendation of Chairman A delegation from Harford County, including Mr. Henry A. Whitaker, John A. Robinaon, Qeo. A. Carnefl, and others, appeared before the Commission and urged the extension of the State Road from Grafton's Shop to Jerrettsville. It was explained to them there will probably be no money available from the present appropriation for that purpose, but that the Commission favore the completion of this road to Jarretteville out of any available money that may be appropriated by the Legislature in 1914 for Harford County. It was recommended to them they they 88k the County Commissioners of Harford County to improve a part of this road in 1915 from the State Aid funds, and they were informed that an application of this kind would be approved by the Commission. Upon motion of Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Rameay, the following resolution was passed: "Whereas, the State Roads Commission of Maryland has improved as a part of the State Roads System, Columbia Avenue, inside the limits of the City of Baltimore, from G-wynns Falls to Carroll Park, and whereas, under the existing law such roads when improved within the City limits shall be City streets under the provisions of the City Charter: Be it resolved, by the State Roads Commission of Maryland, that Columbia Avenue, having been fully improved within the City limits, fiorn Gwynns Falls to Carrol}. Park, as a part of the State Roads System, shall hereafter be deemed a City street, under the provisions of the City Charter, and it is hereby turned over to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, and the Chairman is instructed to send a copy of this resolution to the City Engineer of Baltimore." After careful consideration of all the corrtspondence relating to the claim of Governor Bdwin Sfarfield, Contractor, that no deduction be made from hie price of $32,045.72 for the construction of the Daisy State Aid Road in Howard County, being our teller ae to the claim of Contract #806, because of the shorter haul on the stone used by Governor WarfieId approved. him from a looal quarry instead of the Western Maryland limestone specified, upon motion of Mr, Goelin, seconded by Dr. Remsen, the recommendation of Chairman ffeller, dated December 13, 1912, that a deduction therefor be made of 5 cents per square yard on 25,207.82 square yards of stone (making the price 83 cents per square yard)t was approved. The final estimate as it now stands amounts to $28,707.87, the macadam being figured at 63 cents per square yard, and with the addition of $5,041.56 being the amount due on 25,207.82 square yards, at 20 cents per square yard, this total is further increased to |44,749.43. After deducting from this the |13,047.07 heretofore paid, there remains a balance due of $20,702.12 whioh aum is ordered paid.
