The motion being seconded by Mr. Hutton, was adopted. Dr. Clark submitted a favorable report from Dr. Remsen who had been appointed by the Commission to look into the matter of removing the drum used for testing broken stone in the laboratory of the State Roads Commission. He submitted the following letter from Professor Held: 'My dear Dr. Clark: The machine for testing paving bricks placed in the cellar tinder the Geological Laboratory makes Immense quantities of dust. This dust is carried up in the furnace flues and makes everything extremely dirty in my office. All efforts have failed to remedy this. The room in the cellar, where the seismograph is placed, is covered with a thick mantle of the brick dust, making the room extremely filthy. Would it not be possible to build a small wood shed outside of the workshop for this machine? There is space there to build a shed 14 feet long, 6 feet wide and 9 feet high and still to leave a driveway of 9 feet for the passage of wagons. The shed should be built of wood and covered with corrugated iron. I enclose a sketch of its position and rough estimate which Mr. Brooks has made for the materials required and the cost* Mr. Cook tells me that the machine where it now is has materially affected his health. Yours very truly, (Sgd): Harry Fielding Held,"• Mr. Shoemaker moved that the Committee on Report and Audit be authorized to have 6000 copies of the Commission's report printed for distribution. Messrs. Weller, Clark, Shoemaker and Lloyd voted in the affirmative. Mr. Hutton voted In the negative. The motion was carried. On motion of Mr. Shoemaker, seconded by Mr. Hutton, the matter of the Baltimore and Washington Boulevard .through the town of Slkridge, was referred to a committee consisting of the Chairman and Dr. Remsen for investigation, especially with reference to the crossing of the Baltimore A Ohio Railroad Company.
