Connolly to be paid. to Counsel and Mr. Isaac Lobe Stratus, with the request that they report back to the Commission. The Chairman reported the following bide on Contract #07B-010 (State Road #1 - Laurel to Belteville) opened on the 20th instant, Whereupon, on motion of Dr. Remsen, seconded by Mr. Button, action was postponed until satisfactory information be secured regarding the financial status of some of the bidders: M. J. Grove Lime Company,..............$65,£30.60 Oranford Paving Company,............... 66,132.80 Bush, Mohler & Smith,.................. 62,507.88 B. B. Gonder, ......................... 64,726.06 Hassam Paving Company,................ 76,899.50 Dr. A. Williams, Dr. »Vm. 2. Sareokson, Messrs. Jno. P. O'ldalley and 3d. M. Hammond, of Howard County, appeared before the Commission, regarding the delay in constructing that part of the Baltimore & Washington Boulevard through Elkridge, Whereupon, on motion of Mr. Button, seconded by Mr. Lloyd, it was decided that a Committee of Dr. Remsen of the Commission, and Dr. A. Williams, and others, representing the interested citizens, confer with the proper Baltimore & Ohio Railroad officials, to ascertain what action that Company proposes to take regarding the grade crossings at 31kridge, and to report back to the Commission. On motion of Mr. Button, seconded by Dr. Remsen, the Secretary and Counsel were granted a leave of absence, without compensation, for ninety days from January 3rd, 1912. Messrs. Hiokay and Lee were before the Commission, asking for a payment on retained estimates on Contract #0161, S. R. C., amounting to $4116.14. On motion of Mr. Button, seconded by Mr. Lloyd, it was ordered that $2000. be allowed on this estimate, provided it IB approved by the Bonding Company on this contract. Judge Worthington asked the Commission for a decision regarding the purchase of the Gapland Turnpike in Washington County. On motion of Mr. Button, seconded by Mr. Lloyd, it was decided to consider the purchase of this pike, if a satisfactory price to the Commission can be agreed upon* Mr. Peter F. Connolly asked for a decision regarding unpaid bills. On motion of Mr. Shoemaker, seconded by Mr. Lloyd, it was ordered that such bills as are recommended for payment by the Chief Engineer, to wit: $861.66, be paid.
