Contracts for State P.oad v/l not to be awarded. 3stirnate on Contract Vy055 to be paid and County allowed to complete work on same. Acceptance of Boonsboro Tnpk. completion, as they understood that work would be stopped because of lack of funds, and the residents were very anxious to have the road built and would probably be willing to raise by subscription sufficient money to carry on the work. The Chairman stated that he would look into the matter and if he finds that work had to be stopped at any point because of want of funds, he will take the matter up with Major Gatch, to ascertain whether or not the residents will be willing to advance the necessary money to complete this contract, they to be reimbursed by the State Roads Commission out of any future allotment available for this purpose. Senator A. P. German appeared before the Board with the request that contracts for two sections of State Road #1 in Baltimore County, and two sections in Prince George's County which were advertised for construotion on the 18th day of April, be not awarded, as such action would be in violation of Chapter 409, Section 104 of the Acts of 1910, which provides that this road shall commence at Blkridge. Dr. Remsen moved that this matter be referred to a Committee consisting of three members of the Commission, to take it up as soon as possible and report back to the Board, with power to the Chairman to name such Committee. The motion was seconded by Governor Crothers, and adopted. The Chairman named as the Committee, Dr. Remsen, I.]r. Shoemaker and Mr. Button. Mr. Shoemaker moved that the Secretary be instructed to notify Senator A. P. Gonnan that the Commission will not award contracts on State Road #1 from the Patapsoo River to the B. & 0. Railroad Crossing near Halethorpe, and from the B. & 0. Railroad Crossing near Mt. Winans to Caton Avenue in Baltimore County, and on two sections in Prince George's County near Paint Branch and through Bladensburg, until he is advised. The motion was seconded by Dr. Clark, and adopted. Dr. Clark moved that the estimate of work done by T. J. Barrett on Contract #066 in Caroline County to April 20th, 1911, amounting to $1342.7£, be paid, and the County allowed to complete work on this contract under the direction and supervision of the Commission, the County to pay all expenses in connection therewith, they to be ultimately reimbursed by the State Roads Commission out of any fund available for this purpose. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shoemaker, and adopted. On motion of Mr. Button, seconded by Dr. Remsen, it was agreed that the Boonsboro Turnpike be accepted, and the Chairman and Engineer requested to ascertain the terminal points thereof.
