A delegation of citizens from Garrett County appeared before the Board, requesting that the national Pike from the ^llegany County Line towards Grantcvlllo, a distance of about five miles be constructed us soon. as possible, and that a survey of an additional five miles of this pike be authorized by the Coi/ir.iu Senator Perkins, Me BE re. Kelly, Head, Goodv/in, Precton and othore, addressed the Commission relative to the acquisition of the P.eisterstown Turnpike so that the toll-gate on this pike within the City Limits can be abolished. On motion of Governor Grothers, the above-named delegation vras requested to appoint a committee of three to co-ooorate with the Commission in formulating a plan whereby this condition can he remedied. The notion was seconded by I/Ir. Hutton, and adopted. Mr. Seabold as spokesman for a delegation from Frederick County askocl tho Commission to purchase the Frederick and 3r;:;:ittsburg Turnpike in Frederick County, comprising about 23 railes . Governor Crothors moved that trie I:rederi3k and -}'.• ittsburg Turnpike be purchased at :. price of .'•'1,000. per mile, said Turnpike comprising about :-j3 miles. The motion v;as seconded b:/ Br. Hempen, and adopted. *-'- delegation from Baltimore County appeared before the Board Lo ascertain when tho section of the Belair ?.oad betv/eon Hecker and Perry Hall v/ould be advertised for construction. The Chairman stated that this matter v/ould be taken up by the Board, and that he .vould notify them of its decision. Chief Engineer Crosby stated that from a detailed report of the work done in Montgomery County by force account, contracts vO;?30 and 0231, the cost of same appears to be with- * in the estimated figures, and on the latter indicates a saving of the contractor's profit-about20;C, although not entirely completed. Mr. Tucker stated that unless rescinded, the resolution of the Board relative to Montgomery Countyt adopted at the meeting of the Commission of February 16th, 1911, would remain as entered on the minutes.
