Page 253. Minutes not read. United Rwys. Company asked to improve conditions on Palls P.d . near !.'t. Wash. Further request of City Authorities for iron pole construction. Survey and plane ordered for Dover Bridge Road and Bridge over Choptank River, Allowance of 1C# on increased cost of bridge by Warren Bros. and Messrs. Shoemaker and Hutton. The reading of the minutes was dispensed v/ith. Relative to the work of the United Railways & Electric Company on the Falls Road, Mr. Shoemaker offered the following: Moved, that the attention of the United Railv/ays & TClectric Company be called to the fact that all the agreements between that Company and this Commission provide that where the tracks of the Company are to be moved, that the work is to be done "under the supervision and to the satisfaction of said Commission"; that it would seam to the Commission that the employees of the Railways <^om-pany are entirely disregarding the plans and directions of this Commission and that this Commission must demand the prompt remedying of the conditions now existing, especially on the ^alls Road near the Mount Washington Viaduct. The motion was seconded by "Hr. Clark, and adopted. The Chairman r^ad a communication from the J.'ayor, in reply to his communication notifying !'r. ^ahool of the desiro of this Commission to use wooden poles on all its work, said letter disclosing the fact that the City Authorities still insisted that iron poles bs used on all roads improved by the Commission to be later turned ovor to the City. Kr. Shoemaker moved, upon recommendation of the ^hief "Engineer, that wooden poles be used, that the Chairman be authorized to again notify the Mayor that the Comraiaeion cannot feel that it is justified in complying with his request that iron poles be used. The motion was seconded by Governor Croth^rs, and adopted. A petition from the County Commiesioners of Talbot and Caroline Counties was read to the Board, requesting that plans and specifi cations "be prepared for the re advertisement for bids on the Dover Bridge Road and the bridge ov-3r the Choptank River. On moticn of Mr. Shoemaker, seconded by Tir. riark, the Chief Engineer was instructed to prepare plans and specifications for thiswork in compliance with the request of the petitioners. The motion was adopted. On motion of ]Tr. Shoemaker, seconded by Governor Crothsrs, it was agreed that the motion passed at the previous meeting of the Commission relating to the increased cost of bridge on the warren Brothers contract be rescinded, and that they be allowed $815.-10^ of $8150., same being the difference in cost between the original bid |39950. and $48100. under the new plans. The motion was carried.
