Condemnation of Frederick Pike authorized.

The Chairman read a latter from ?fr. >T. w. janes, president of the TT. V. .Tames Lumbar Company, of "Baltimore, stating that the Directors of the "Baltimore & "Frederick Turnpike Company refused to entertain his proposition of $90,000. and asked $150,000. for the turnpike, which is about sixty-two miles in length. Mr. Shoemaker moved that the Counsel be authorized to proceed at once to condemn the Pike.  The motion was duly seconded by governor Crothers and adopted.
The Chairman submitted a communication from the Rickey-Swann Company, of Trenton, ^Tew Jersey, asking for an extension of time on the State Road work in Charles County, Contract #0150.
Governor Crothers moved that the extension of time be granted the Rickey-Swann Company to September 15th, 1910, as recommended by the Chief "*<Mgineer. ?'r. Hutton seconded the motion, which was adopted.
The Chairman read a communication from Tr. w. w. r-rosby, Chief Engineer, advising that the following men have bean employed recently by the Engineering department:
Lee Downey, Inspector Maintenance Division, $75.00 per month, from July 1st.
Julius Zieget, Inspector ?/raintenance Division, £60.00 per month, from July 8th.
J. "B. Logan, Chief of Party, has been transferred to the Construction Department at $75.00 p^r month, beginning July 5th.
Daniel Bresnau, rodman, was laid off July 9th, on account of there "being no further n3ed of his services.
Upon motion of !'r. Shoemaker, duly seconded and adopted, it was ordered that the action of the Chief "Rjngineer be approved by the State Roads Commission.
The Chairman submitted the following communication from the Highways Commission of "Baltimore County, signed by ""!. Stanton Bosley, Secretary, under date of July 12th, 1910:
"I beg to acknowledge receipt of yours of the 9th inst. in reference to the acquisition by the State Roads Commission of the Liberty Turnpike ftoad.
In reply thereto I arn instructed to advise you that the Highways Commission of "Baltimore County hereby agree to maintain such portion of the t.itierty Turnpike Road, within the limits of "Baltimore County until such time as the State poads Commission may accept and improve the same."
Mr. Shoemaker moved that the Chairman be authorized to close with the Frederick-Jefferson Turnpike people at the price named, namely, |9,980., and proceed at once with the advertisement of the work on the road from Jefferson to Knoxville in two sections. }'r. Hutton seconded the motion, which was adopted.
