199. Ordar as to use of Traction Engines on Stata Roads. Resignation of Dr. Remsen as member of Bookkeeping Com-mittaa. Election of Chiaf Snginaar, Sleetion of Bnginaer of Construction. Election of Engineor of Maintenance, ate., Slaction of Chief Draftsman Leava of Absence grantad Chief Engineer. Raquest for construction of Mr. Carville D. Btnson, Counsel to the Commission, offered the following order: "No traction engine shall be operated upon any Improved •State Road, or section thereof, except such as hare wheels •with smooth surfaces and greater than four inches in width ; "nor shall any sleds with brakes be used on said roads. "Any parson violating the provisions of this Notice will •be prosecuted under the provisions of chapter 501 of the. "Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1910." Dr. Clark moved that the foregoing order be passed by the Commission, jyr. Remsen seconded the motion, which was adopted. Dr. Remsen offered his resignation as a member of the Committee appointed to select a bookkeeper for the Commission. It was agreed that Dr. Clark be substituted in Dr. Remsen'a stead. Dr. Remsen moved that Mr. W. W. Crosby be elected as Chief Engineer to the State Roads Commission for one year, at a salary of $5000. per annum. The motion was duly seconded and adopted. Govomor Crothars moved that Mr. E. F. Rugbies be elacted Engineer of Construction, under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, for one year at a salary of $2600. per annum. The motion was duly seconded and carried. On motion of Governor Crothers, duly seconded and adopted, it was apread that Mr. W. D. Uhler, be designated Engineer in charge of surveys, drafting and completion of plans for contracting and maintenance, under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, for a term of one year, at $2500. per annum. Governor Crothers moved that Mr. J. !T. Mackall be elected Chief Draftsman to the Commission for a parlod of one year, at a salary of $1600. far annum. The motion was duly seconded and adopted. Dr. Clark moved that the Chief Engineer be granted leave of absence, to attend a mooting of the international Oood Roads Congress at Brussels, for four weeks from July 15th, or until the expiration of the conference. The motion was duly seconded and adopted. Chairman Tucker stated that he had received a communication from Mr. Wlllis, a resident of Kent County, urging the construction Road from Chester town to war dp Airing this year of a State Road from Chestertown towards Rock Hall. Rock Hall in Kant County. The Chairman was instructed to write Mr. ¥1111 s to the effect that all work in Kant County for the present year had been laid out, and the Commission will be unable to provide for any further work on
