Page 120. Fifty-ninth Meeting. Present. Reading and Approval of Minutes. Price of excavation on Contract Awarding of Contract for Westport Road. Presentation of Bills Check for Buffalo Steel Co. Survey in Prince George's County. Construction of One Mile of Road in Montgomery County. A Special Meeting of the State Roads Commission was held this Friday, September 10th, 1909, at its offices, Union Trust Building, Baltimore, Md., at 10 o'clock A. M. The Chairman called the meeting to order. Present: Governor Crothers, Chairman Tucker, Messrs. Shoemaker and Hutton. The minutes of the two previous meetings of the ^om-iniasion were read and approved. The Chairman reported that in the matter of the contract with KcCormick & Company, they had agreed to make the price of excavation 30 cents per cubic yard on the work in St. ?rary«s County, Contract #021. Z.'r. Shoemaker moved that the contract for work to be done in "Baltimore County on the Westport Road, Contract A)181, 1.57 miles, between Westport and Sweetzer's "°.ridi^e, "be awarded to Mr. David V. Ault, Baltimore, Kd., at his bid. The motion was seconded by Mr. Hutton, and adopted. The Chairman presented a number of bills, approved by the Auditing Committee, amounting to £1,130.19 ar.d on motion, duly seconded, the bills were authorized for payment. Mr. Shoemaker moved that in the matter of the bill of the Buffalo Steel Company of $460.00 for steol bars, a check for $400.00 on account be sent them, and the balance to be paid as soon as the reports come in from the contractors of the receipt of the bara. The motion waa duly seconded and adopted. lrr. Hutton moved that a survey "he made in Prince George's County from Hall Station to Hardesty, on private right-of-way to be deeded to the State. The motion was seconded by T'r. Shoemaker and adopted. ."r. Hutton moved that the Coinmiaeion proceed to construct one mile of road in Mont gomery County, commencing at the end of the finished road from Kockville and running westerly towards Gai thersburg, and that the employment of a competent superintendent, the securing of the necessary machinery, tools, labor and materials, be authorized, and that the Commission proceed at once to make arrangements for this work, and that Mr. Hutton report from time to time to the Commission in reference to the same. It is also understood that if the results of the construction of this mile of road are satisfactory, that the rest of the section of road will be constructed in like manner.
