Rejection of Mds in Somerset County. Contract in St. Mary's County. State Road in Cecil County Contract for Steel. A Special meeting of the State Roads Commission was held this Monday, August 2nd, 1909, at its offices, Union Trust -Ruilding, Baltimore, Maryland, at 9:30 o'clock A. M. The Chairman called the meeting to order. Present: Governor Crothers, Chairman Tucker, Messrs. Button and Shoemaker. The minutes of the previous meeting of the Commission were not read. Governor Crothers moved that arrangements be made with the Springfield State Hospital at Sykesville for the construction of a mile and a half of State Road, beginning at Tiidersburg and running to the Hospital End of the state Aided Road, if proper a-rangements can be made at once by the chairman of this commission, who shall report back to the Commission his action in the matter. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shoemaker, and adopted. Governor crothers moved that on those roads which the commission itself is building, all bills for materials and labor be sent in duplicate to the Foreman having charge of the work, one of which bills he approves and sends to this Commission and the other to the Inspector on the work by whom it shall be forwarded to the Engineering Department. Mr. Shoemaker seconded the motion, which was adopted. Governor Crothers moved that the bids for work in Somerset County be rejected. Mr. Eutton seconded the motion, which was adopted. Governor Crothers moved that the contract for work in St. Mary's County, 5-1/4 miles, be awarded to McCormick & Company, of Philadelphia, Pa., on their bid including Macadam. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shoemaker, and adopted. Governor Crothers moved that the Commission proceed with the construction of another mile of state Road in Cecil County running towards Porter's Bridge. Seconded by Mr. Shoemaker and adopted. Governor Crothers moved that the Chairman be authorized to close the contract for the steel necessary for work where contracts
