Awarding of Contract in Caroline County. ,
Recess*
receive the benefit of, upon any and all materials and supplies that may be furnished under said contract;  and that all other bids for work in said County be rejected, and that the certified checks of said bidders whose proposals are rejected, bs returned to them.  Governor Cro-thers seconded the motion, which was adopted.
Governor Crothers moved that the bid of Charles M. Phillips, Hur-lock, Maryland, for a section of road in Dorchester County, "beginning at the Caroline County line and running towards Hurlock, about 5-fa miles, be accepted, and the contract awarded to Charles M. Phillips, upon and on the following condition, to wit:  Provided said Charles II. Phillips will agree to insert in said Contract a clause agreeing that the State Roads Commission may deduct fron the aggregate price of the work, labor, materials and supplies done or furnished under said contract, an amount equal to the aggregate reduction in the existing published freight rates, if any, that he may obtain or receive the benefit of, upon any and all materials and supplies that may be furnished under said contract; and that all other bids for work in said County be rejected, and that the certified checks of said bidders whose proposals are rejected, be returned to them.  The motion was seconded by Mr. Shoemaker and adopted.
Mr. Shoemaker moved that the bid of R. W. Messenger, Federalsburg, Maryland, for a section of road in Caroline County, beginning at the corporate limits of the town of Federalsburg, and running towards the Dorchester County line, about one mile, be accepted, and the contract awarded to R. W. Messenger, upon and on the following condition, to v/it: Provided said R. W. Messenger will agree to insert in said Contract a clause agreeing that the State Roads Commission may deduct from the aggregate price of the -.vork, labor, materials and supplies done or furnished under said contract, an amount equal to the aggregate reduction in the existing published freight rates, if any, that he may obtain or receive the benefit of, upon any and all materials and supplies that may be furnished under said contract;   and that all other bids for work in said county be rejected, and that the certified checks of said bidders whose proposals are rejected, be returned to them.  The motion was seconded by Governor Crothers, and adopted.
