Rf-IA Page 43. Tentative location of roads in Baltimore County. Value of Turnpikes Balto & Frederck Boonsboro, Haf;ersto.7n & Conoco cheats. Tenative route from Baltimore by way of •^llicott City, Frederick, },'dddletown,& Boonsboro. The Bel Air Road about 14 miles to the Harford County line. If it can "he secured free of cost to the State, the Liberty Turnpike to the Carroll County line about 11-1/2 miles. Should the Commission decide to take over the Howard County portion of the Baltimore & Frederick Turnpike, then omit all of the Liberty Turnpike, and instead take "Rdrcondson Avenue and the most available route to TJllicott City. The York Turnpike about 4 miles to Towson. The TYestport-Annapolis Road about 1-1/2 miles. The Falls Road about 2 miles to Mt. Washington. The Harfor.d Turnpike to its intersection with the Old Harford Road about 1.4 miles. The Philadelphia Road about 1 mile to the B. & 0. Railroad Crossing. Park Heights Avenue about 1 mile to Belvedere Avenue. Fdnondson Avenue and the Old Frederick Road 1.2 miles, and that the above roads be extended so far ae the funds will permit in the order named- Governor Crothers seconded Kr. Shoemaker's motion, and moved that the matter be laid over and made the special order of business at 2.30 o'clock after a Recess of the Commission. Dr. Remsen moved that Whereas the policy of the Commission has been not to purchase turnpike roads out of the funds at its command, but in the opinion of the Commission the values of the Baltimore £ Frederick Turnpike from Baltimore by way of T^llicott City to Frederick and from thence to "Boonsboro, and the Boonsboro Turnpike from Boonsboro to Hagerstown, and the Hagerstown « Conococheague Creek Turnpike from Hagerstown to Conococheague Creek, are so small, and this route is, in the-opinion of this Commission, the desirable route for the Fast and West main artery of the State of Maryland, therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Baltimore & Frederick Turnpike from Baltimore City by way of Catonsville, "fiiiicott City, Frederick, Uiddletown and Boonsboro, and the Boonsboro Turnpike from Boonsboro to Hagerstown, and the Hagerstown and Conococheague Turnpike from Hap^rstown to the West side of Conococheague Creek, and the road from Conococheague Creek to the Allegany County line, be adopted as the tentative route for the Bast and West main artery between Baltimore City and Allegany County. The motion was seconded by Governor Crothers, and upon a vote being taken was unanimously adopted. Dr. Clark offered the following resolution: Be It Resolved, That in the event of the tentative route from Baltimore by way of 'Rllicott City, Frederick, Middletown, Boons- (43)
