Dr. Clark moved that a map case for the safe and proper keeping of the maps of the Commission, he constructed at a cost not exceeding £50.oo. Governor Crothers seconded the motion and it was adopted. Dr. Clak moved that the Chairman be authorized to purchase mileage books on the railroads for the use of the engineering department, as the sane nay be needed. The motion was seconded by Governor Crthers and adopted. The Chairman presented several "bills for engineering department expenses, and Dr. Remsen moved that they "be approved for payment. The motion was secondd by Mr. Shoemaker and adopted. Dr. Clark moved that all bills relating to joint expenses of quarters now occupied by the State Roads Cornrni ssion and the Geologi-cal Survey Commission be paid by this Commission, and a bill rendered the Geological Survey Corn-mission for tv;-fifths of the amount, a'r. Shoemaker seconded the motion and it 'as adopted. The Chairman presented a "bill from the Union Trust Company for office rent from Kay 10th 1908 to October 31st 1908, amounting to $123-93, and on notion of Dr. Remsen, seconded by }/r. Hutton, it was approved for payment. Dr. Remsen moved that Pere L. Wickes he granted leave of absence from November 1st to the 23rd. , with out pay. Mr. Shoemaker seconded the motion which »s adopted. Mr. Shoemaker moved that D. C. Handy "be employed as Instrument man ( "ing a promotion from Rodman) from November 1st. Mr. Hutton seconded the motion and it was adopted. I.'.". Shoemaker moved that P. L. Wickes be employed as Podman from November 23rd. The motion was seconded by I.'r. Hutton and adopted. The Chairman stated that the Chief "Engineer was now ready and could use two draughtsmen at once, and that he had authorized him to employ them. The Chairman further said he had since been advised that Messrs. W. D. Somervell and I. G. Lewis had been engaged as such at a salary of $60.oo per month. Mr. Shoemaker moved that the action of the Chairman be confirmed. Mr Hutton seconded the motion which was adopted. Dr. Clark moved that two additional draughtsmen be employed, the engineer now being ready for same, and nominated Mr. Daniel Hubbard and Mr. R. T. Davis for draughtsmen at a salary of $60.oo per month each. Mr. Shoemaker seconded the motion and it was adopted. The Chairman pesented a. communication frt m Mr. Frank H. Callaway, President of the Baltimore & Liberty Turnpike Company, and Mr. Shoemaker moved that the Secretary be instructed to acknowledge the receipt of his communication.
