The Chief Engineer submitted a list of furniture and draughting instruments necessary for the proper equipment of the draughting room. The question of clerical and other help being brought to the attention of the Commission by the presentation of a bill of the Chief Engineer for such service, amounting to $207.29, Governor Crothers expressed the opinion that the Commission should stand by the resolution adopted at the last meeting of the Commission regarding the employment of persons by this Commission, but thought that an exception to the resolution might be made for a while. Whereupon, Mr. Shoemaker moved that the bill of the Chief Engineer for clerical and other assistance, amounting to $207.29, be ordered paid. Governor Crothers seconded the motion and it was so ordered and adopted. Mr. Shoemaker moved that the Chief Engineer's suggestions as to the employment of a property man be referred to a Committee to report to the Commission at its next meeting. The motion was seconded by Governor Crothers and adopted. The Chairman named Messrs.Shoemaker and Hutton as said Committee. The names of 1-r. W. J. Pitts and J". Nicholson Harris were mentioned for consideration by the Commisaim for the position of property man. The Chief "^ngineer submitted a map showing the roads as adopted by the Commission as part of the State System, also showing the different turnpikes, for the information of the Commission. The Commission proceeded to open bids for the con-Vtjruction of two pirces of road in Carline County. Two bids were received for "the Lewis-Trice Road and one bid for the * Denton-Greensboro Road. After tabulating the figures it was announced that Messrs.Goslin, Messenger & Holt had bid $7888. and Mr. Lawrence B. Toweits had bid $9500. for the Lewis-Trice Road. The bid for the Denton-Greensboro Road was from Mr. L.B. Towers and amounted to $2000. After taking the matter under consideration the Commission decided to reject all bids. This action was taken upon a motion by Governor Crothers, seconded by Mr. Hutton, and which was adopted. On motion, duly seconded, the Commission adjourned subject to the call of the Chairman.
