A meeting of the State Roads Commission was held this Thursday, May 21, 1908, at 3.35 o'clock P.M., on board the State Steamer "Governor P.F.Thomas" on leaving Leonardtown, Maryland. Present: Governor Austin L. Crothers, Chairman John M. Tucker, Dr. Win. Bullock Clark, Mr. Samuel I".. Shoemaker and Mr Francis C.Hut-ton. The minutes of the last two meetings were read and approved. Dr. Clark moved that Mr. W. W. Crosby "be elected Chief Engineer of the Commission for one year at a salary of $3600.00 per annum, with the understanding that the Maryland Geological & Economic Survey Commission will arrange for the payment to MY Crosby of $2400. per annum. The motion was seconded by Governor Crothers and unanimously adopted. Governor Crthers moved that Mr. Carville D. Benson "be elected Counsel to the Commission for a period of one year, a: a salary of $1500.00 per annum, as fixed by motion of Dr. Remsen at the meeting of the Commission held May 7, 1908. Mr. Shoemaker seconded the motion, which was unanimously carried. It was noved that the road in Calvert County to be improved under the provisions of Chapter 141 of the Acts of 1908 be and the sar.e is hereby located from a point on the line between Anne Arundel and Calvert Counties, and run as near as may be by way of Ov/ings, Sunderland, Prince Frederick, Port Republic, St. Leonard's to Solomon's. The motion was seconded by Mr. Shoemaker and unanimously adopted. Mr Shoemaker moved that the St. Mary's County road be located from a point on the line between Charles County and St. Mary's County on the La Plata Road west of Charlotte Hall, and thence running as near as my be thr >ugh Mechanicsville, J.'organza, Loveville, Leon-ardtov/n, Great Mills, Park Hall, Trap, Ridge, to Point Lookout. The notion being seconded was duly carried. Mr. Shoemaker reported to the Commission that the National Mechanics Bank of Baltimore had made an offer of 2^ interest on all deposits of funds made in said bank by the Commission. Mr Shoemaker moved that the Chief Engineer prepare a map showing the roads selected by the Commission in Calvert and St. Mary's Counties, and that copies of these maps be filed \vith the County Comir.issioners of the respective Counties; also that the Chief Engineer file with the Secretary copies of these maps for the use and information of the Commission.
