Add a graphic map
The graphic map of your city isn't available?
The reason is very simple: I don't have the data I need. But
you do!
Don't waste your time sending me a scanned map: this doesn't help.
It is not very complex to add a map, but you need some time.
To add a graphic map, you need to:
-
Use a good paper map.
-
Divide the elements on the map (train lines, river, city
frontiers) into straight line segments.
-
Choose any coordinate system (axis origin, scale).
When I will receive your data, I will translate them to match
my coordinate system.
-
Input the coordinates (x,y) of each segment. For example:
segment Red (for line A)
1.2 53.2
1.5 55.8
...
endsegment
...
segment Black (for city frontier)
48.1 12.5
...
endsegment
-
Next, type the coordinates (x,y) of each station
(which may already be a point in the "segment" part).
For example:
station (for line A)
27.1 325.5 {Piccadilly}
322.0 15.2 {Central Station}
...
endstation
station (for line B)
...
endstation
...
-
If you don't want to type station names, you can download the
station list for your city with your favorite World-Wide-Web browser.
In the examples above, coordinates, station names and line colors
are purely fictional.
Important:
If you volunteer to add a graphic map, send me a
message so that I can
tell you if somebody is already working on it.
